Volunteer Crews

  • Breakdown: Taking the festival down … picking up. A very important job that we love to sign people up for!
  • Camp Rangers: Help direct campers to the areas where they’re allowed to camp, make sure their tents aren’t too close together, and generally make sure that campers are comfortable and have what they need. A brief pre-festival training is required.
  • Compost: Help the festival-goers compost the correct materials at the food vendor area and keep trash out of the compost, empty compost full compost bins and bring empty ones to the compost area
  • Concessions: Selling Grassroots t-shirts and the performers merchandise (CDs, tapes, etc.).
  • Gate Crew: Watch the gates, facilitate traffic flow, and check for wristbands during the festival.
  • Hospitality/Kitchen: At the festival all the performers are fed three meals a day also known as hospitality. Volunteers help prepare and serve the food. Must be 18 or older!
  • Kids Area: There is a designated area that is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10-6. There will be organized projects, games and demonstrations for the kids there. Your job as a volunteer will be to help with the projects and hang out with the kids. All children will be accompanied by an adult.
  • Parking: Directing cars to their parking spots. This is an area of particular need, so if you really want to help out, this is the crew for you!
  • Set-Up: This includes many different jobs that create the festival site for the people. It will take place all day long the week before the festival. Jobs include putting tents up, stages and dance floors together, decorating, putting signs and fencing up … the list goes on.
  • Stage Help: All the stages need people to help everything run smoothly … stage managing, production, EmCeeing, DJing Also, small number of experienced stage techs are needed to work with professional crews on sound, lights, and recording/archiving. If you are going to be helping out with sound/production (at Dance, Cabaret or Grove Stage) you will need to be at the festival by Thursday at 4pm to attend a mandatory meeting with all the stage crews.
  • Street Team: Takin’ it to the streets! Let your friends, family, and community know what a great thing we have going on at Shakori Hills.
  • Ticket Booth: Checking confirmation numbers, giving people their wristbands, selling tickets and greeting people as they enter the festival.
  • Trash & Recycling: This job consists of picking up trash cans & recycle bins and emptying them, moving stuff to another location. Also picking up trash seen anywhere on the grounds.
  • Volunteer Check-in: Help check yourself in! Responsible for checking volunteers in and making sure they are oriented with festival grounds and that they know their responsibilities as volunteers.
  • Work Parties: Help us get the festival site ready for the big weekend every Saturday leading up to the festival … and the two Sundays before the festival too!
